Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
